USYSA/FIFA rules apply if not modified within:

PLAYER REGISTRATION: All players must be registered on their teams' registration form before the tournament begins. No changes or substitutions to rosters after tournament play begins will ordinarily be allowed.  In unusual situations, only the Tournament Director may authorize changes to a roster after play begins if, in their judgement, such changes are in the best interests of all players and are in the best interests of the mission of the Monument Cup. Any Team or players) determined by the Tournament Director to have falsified age will be dismissed from the tournament.  All players must provide proof of age or a current MYSA card at the time of registration and at the request of the Tournament Director, if necessary. 

NUMBER OF PLAYERS: Four is the maximum number of players on a team; three field players at one time. Players may only play on one team per division. There are no goalkeepers in 3 v 3 soccer. Substitutes may occur at any dead ball situation, with players getting the attention of the referee, entering and exiting at a place designated by the referee at the beginning of each game.

TEAM UNIFORMS & EQUIPMENT: All players must wear jerseys/shirts during play and each team must bring both a light and dark colored jerseys/shirts. If both teams are wearing the similar colors, the referee shall determine which team will change color. All players must wear shin guards.

FIELD DIMENSIONS: Approximately 35-40 meters in length and 20-25 meters in width.

GOAL BOX: The goal box is the space directly in front of each goal, six feet by ten feet, where no player may touch the ball. Any part of the ball or player's body on the line is considered in the goal box; an extension of the box. If a defender touches the ball in the goal box, a goal is awarded to the offensive team, no matter who touched the ball last before it entered the box. If an offensive player touches the ball in the box, it becomes dead and a goal kick is awarded to the defensive team.  If a ball rolls to a stop within the goal box, reqardless of which team touched it last, a goal kick is awarded to the defensive tam.  The goals themselves measure 4 feet high and eight feet wide.

GAME DURATION: Each game shall consist of two 12 minute halves, separated by a two minute half-time period. The winner is the tam with the most goals at the end of that game OR if either team crates a 10  point lead at  any time during the duration of the game.  Games ending in a tie during pool play will end as a tie.  Playoff tiebreakers will be held in the semifinal and final matches.  Any game shall be forfeited, at the discretion of the Tournament Director, If a team does not appear at its game time.  There are no time outs in 3 V 3 soccer. Injury time outs are a the discretion of the referee.

GOAL SCORING: A goal may be scored only from a touch (either by offense or defense) within the attacking team's offensive half of the field.

SCORING IN POOL PLAY: Pool play games will be scored as follows: 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss.

TIE BREAKERS: In pool play, ties in team points between 2 or more teams will be broken by 1) head to head results between tied teams; 2)goals against in pool play 3) goal difference in pool play 4) Tie Breaker playoff.

TIE BREAKER PLAYOFF/PLAYOFF OVERTIME: Shall consist of sudden death overtime period, maximum length of three minutes, with a coin toss to decide possession/direction. The first team to score in overtime is the winner. A coin toss will decide which team starts the penalty kick/shootout round. The three players from each team remaining on the field at the end of overtime will alternate with each penalty kick, with the higher scoring team winning after the first round. If the score remains tied after the first round of penalty kicks, the same field players will rotate in a sudden death penalty kick format until one team scores unanswered.

FIVE YARD RULE: In all dead ball situations, defending players must stand at least five yards away from the ball. If the defensive player's goal is closer than five yards, the ball shall be placed five yards from the goal box,in line with the place of penalty.

KICK-INS: The ball shall be kicked into play from the sideline instead of thrown in.

INDIRECT KICKS: All dead ball kicks (kick-ins, free-kicks, kick-offs and goal kicks) are indirect with the exception of corner and penalty kicks.

GOAL KICKS: May be taken from any point on the end line, but not in the goal box area.

KICK OFF: May be taken in any direction.

PENALTY KICKS: Shall be awarded if, in the referee's opinion, a clear scoring opportunity was nullified by the infraction. It is a direct kick, taken from the middle of the half-field line with all players behind the half-field line. Penalty kicks are not live balls. If a goal is not scored, the defense obtains possession with a goal kick.

PLAYER EJECTION (RED CARD): Referees have the right to eject a player from the game for continual disobedience or as a result of an incident that warrants ejection. The team may continue with their remaining two or three players. However, if the player receiving the red card was in the field of play at the time of ejection, the team must complete that game with only two players on the field. The Tournament Director will decide about suspension from additional games after review of the ejection.

FORFEITS: Any team not present at its designated field and time will forfeit that game, at the discretion of the Tournament Director.

ANY SITUATIONS OR OCCURRENCES WHICH THESE RULES DO NOT ADDRESS SHALL BE REVIEWED AND DECIDED UPON BY THE TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR.
